OOPS!

The current state of Trail Mix.
I have seven more rows to add-two of them are even stitched together!
Do you see the mistake?
Fortunately, it's on the last row and near the edge.
I'll have to fix that.

Then because it's coming on smoothie time I bought a new blender.

Over the years I've had MULTIPLE blenders.

But none seems to work like I want.

So rather than continue buying and discarding blenders I bought this

A VitaMix.
It isn't the biggest or the most expensive but is considered the best overall.
Now, I just need to remember how to make smoothies!

Monday Musings

Schlumbergera App.

My Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, every dang day cacti are still at it!
I have nine different varieties and at the moment three are in bloom and two have buds
These plants have been in bloom almost continuously since I brought them inside last fall.

I guess they really like my office window!

March is not my friend.
It was really lovely the first week.
Windy, with red flag warnings. but really nice.
So nice I planned to go purchase the blocks for two new gardens.
But. . .
Before I could get to the lumber yard it started raining
Big thunderstorms, water standing in the yard and a small stream running off on one side!
We had our first tornado warnings of the year.
(Actually three hook echos in one big storm!)
Nothing touched down though.)
I think it rained daily for one whole week.
The grass turned green over night.
Now, it will take a whole week of no rain to not sink when I walk on the grass!
That is not in the forecast-it's like 2 days of sun and 3 days of rain.
So, those two gardens aren't happening in March.

With all the rain my MOJO for just about anything has departed.
Sigh.
March is usually wet and cloudy.
Dismal.
I'm quite bored but I don't want to do anything!
I have made some small progress on Trail Mix.
I think the top is about halfway together.
No other stitching.
Really must find a way to get back into things!

Tomorrow, I'm off first thing for my second shot.
Huzzah!

Back Home Again

No, I haven't gone anywhere!
But,
I have been busy.
Here is Trail Mix laid out on the design wall.
All those empty spots are for the Double Nine blocks.

I don't really think I understood this quilt until I put it on the wall.
I just thought when it said a light and a medium/dark I could just pick two fabrics one lighter than the other and it would all be good.
Wrong!
It really needed to be the SAME light for the "trails" to show properly.
So after two days of unsewing the double nine blocks and cutting more parts
I have begun putting them back together!

This is the machine I'm using!
My 1973 Elna Super!
Which is back from the repair shop and just humming along.
I love working on this machine,
the stitches are always even,
the tension is always right.
It's just a dream!

Steve, the repair guy said it was a "Sweetheart of a machine!"
I have a feeling one of my other machines is never getting much use!

I finished!

This small quilt for the door window in Ceili (Travel trailer/caravan).
I used to just hang a towel up on the trim to block the light.
Otherwise, I have trouble sleeping.
I still have to work out how to make it stay up as the door is fiberglass.
I'm thinking double stick tape, or maybe velcro.

Also for Ceili this throw pillow (cushion).
I still need to sew on the button in the middle but I need to acquire a button with four holes for the back.

Both of these were made of leftover blocks from last years RSC.
I really like using up things and also getting things off my
Want to do list!

Of Blue Skies, buds and open doors.

Just two weeks ago we were slowly crawling out of the extreme cold!
Today, it was 63F!
No jacket required.
The maples are budding out.
Soon, I'll be complaining of all the "Helicopters" I'll be sweeping up.
Right now I'm enjoying the sun and warmer air.
Quinn, loves this weather as well.
Opting to stay out in the yard most of the day,
waiting for warmer air when her Mom opens the Patio door

     and just leaves it open!
No screen needed as the bugs haven't joined us yet
and she can come and go as she pleases.

The March Want to Do List

1.    Quilt Ceili's turquoise door quilt
2.    Make turquoise pillow for Ceili
3.    Assemble Trail Mix top and back
4.    One Christmas thing-Gnome
5.    Add blocks to Civil War Sampler

6.    Cross-stitch pin cushion - Biscornu
7.    Make some hexie flowers- I hope 8

March begins garden work so there are some projects left over from last year to do:
1.    Add a circle garden around maple tree in front
2.    Add a semi-circle garden around the mailbox
3.    Because I wasn't thinking last year and used treated pickets for the raised veggie beds-               sigh.  I will be rebuilding them using cement blocks.
4.    Replace outdoor chair seats and paint the frames

House:
1.     Replace the shower heads in both baths.
2.     Replace the toilet seat in my bath-it's too hard to clean!
3.    Inventory pantry
4.     Get caught up on the housekeeping.

Try some new recipes!
Try to get all the daily things done-this is probably wishful thinking
Read a non-fiction book-hopefully I'll choose one I enjoy this month!

Who know's what I'll come up with to do INSTEAD of the things on this list!
