THE VIRUS is back!

Everyone seems to be updating the effect the Delta Variant is having in their home area, so I'll do the same.  I live on the Missouri side of the line between Missouri and Kansas.  Greenwood is on the very edge of Jackson County (seriously, less than a mile from my house it's Cass County) Also Jackson County is home to the second largest metro in Missouri ( I think it might be the largest in Kansas-but seriously that's Kansas.  I need to take a course in how to drive there as they are insane! I wandered off topic there-blame ADD.)  The big city is Kansas City (KC) which goes back under a mask mandate on Monday, as do several of the other towns within the metro-I figure it includes me even though Jackson county hasn't declared it.  This mandate is for everyone over age 5, even those of us who are fully vaccinated.  It seems we can pass it on without even knowing it, Highly contagious like Chicken Pox they say.  Both states have daily new case rates about 2000.  Many of the school districts are opening with full mask use as well.  Most, like 99.5% of all new cases are of unvaccinated people.  Many hospitals in the Rural areas of the state are full or nearly full-which causes issues for folks having heart attacks, etc.  The Hospitals here are filling up as well.  Apparently, it's scary enough to have the vaccination rate rising-but not fast enough.  The politicals aren't helping, not that the part of our system deemed RED ever did help, just cause road blocks.  It's sad but it's so easy to get vaccinated and it's free!  I find it difficult to understand and my eldest son if actually quite angry about it.  He's had it already (just having it doesn't protect you from getting it again) and is diabetic and asthmatic.  He feels that the non-vaccinated are endangering his health, he's probably right.  I'm tired of it and would like to get on with my  life but I won't endanger anyone else-I have very young grandchildren I'd like to see and still keep them protected.

On a somewhat happier note!

This table arrived at its new home yesterday.  Beth and Brayden helped me load it Thursday evening and I drove it to the Farm!  We nearly didn't get it into the house-finally Scott unscrewed the self-closing thing on the screen door and gave us the inch we needed! My father found it in someone's garage attic and refinished it.  It's the table I remember eating around as I grew up.  It came to our house sometime in the 80's and we ate around it then later played games around it.  It went to Rob and Tanya for a while and when they moved to Nashville it came back to me.  It was really too big for my great room so I offered it to Scott.  He practically jumped up and down with joy!  Bri too!  I'm happy it is staying in the family and will be cared for and loved out at the Farm.

On the stitching front-well, hum.
I've only made one "doll" this week.  I was trying to get the second Connection quilt finished as those are made for the farm but it didn't quite happen.
I'll have some photos to show in another day or two.  Never fear I'll be going to the farm again and I can deliver the quilts!

Busy week and a "Doll" report

I'll begin with the "Doll" report.
Only made four this week.
Two of them last night.
The Bottom two are supposed to be nurses
but
I think they need stethoscopes!
I'll be working out that pattern later.
only 8 or 9 of the original patterns are left
Then I'll see if I need to make a few more.
I have done NO other sewing
Just playing with "Dolls."

I did quite a lot of cleaning inside--BOO-Hiss!
I've also been working on Family History again for a couple of hours each day.
I have found myself feeling boring lately
so
I'm adding back in things I've always done but which took a vacation lately.

 In other things--
I had Zoe-girl the golden all of the week she's a love bug couch potato.
She loves rawhide chews and the In and Out game.
(You know let me out--2 minutes later --let me in.)
On Wednesday I got the patio door
(Read post below this one)
On Thursday lots happened.
The house washer came and cleaned the gutters and siding.
White house,  shows dirt!
Then a delighted Zoe went home!
About 5 hours later
Rob and Tanya (the Nashville kids) came with Lola.
Friday,
We went to the K.
To watch our beloved Royals play
BASEBALL!
Amazing moon just coming up at the end of the stadium.

Out of the 15 members of my family 10 of us came!
(3 live in California and Izzy stayed home with Mommy.)

So, from Left to right-Back row:  Scott, Ryan (with the blue hair!) Rob, Tanya and Brayden.
Front Row: Lucas, Kolby, Ethan, Beth and Me.)

Everyone had a total blast!
The Royals won!
There were two homers!
And Fireworks after the game!
As a family get together it was so much better than hanging out at home chatting!

Yesterday, I did some sewing while Rob and Tanya visited with friends.

Today, Rob, Tanya and Lola have left to return to Nashville.
They'll be driving all day!

Now,  I'm going to work on Family history for a bit and then head down to the studio.
It's broiling hot and we're all melting so the basement cool is quite welcome.

Finally.

It's here!
It's installed!
I was beginning to think this new patio door would never get here!
The Pic isn't that great but
THE DOOR
is fantastic!
It slides nicely, closes all the way and LOCKS!
I can put away the stick I used to lock the door.

Tomorrow will be busy:
The house washer is coming,
Zoe (Grandog golden) is going home,
and,
Lola (Grandog husky) is bringing her Mom and Dad here.
(Okay maybe they are bringing her.)
It's going to be FUN!

One step forward-two steps back --8 more dolls

I finally got the back made for this Make a Connection.
It involved 4 pieces of fleece and
one trip to the fabric store.
Then,
I laid it out on the table and began tying it.
Got two whole rows done.
When, I realized that the back and the top where going in different directions!
Wait!
What!
So, all the ties were taken out-Carefully.
Then everything got turned round the right way.
Tying began again.
One step forward two steps back, sigh.

I made 8 paper dolls since my last post!
The little girl in her wheelchair took two nights-20 pieces!

All the Paper Dolls

Here they are ALL 28 of them so far.
You should be able to enlarge them once you click on the full photo.
I'm sure I'll make another one after bit.
I have several transferred to the Iron-on stuff.
There are a couple that I've done twice
 one that I won't do
 and one
(the little pink dancer, I took elements from other blocks and then designed her outfit)
I did manage to get the spots from showing through on the little pale blonde girl by carefully cutting away the background.  Still not too happy with the contrast there.  If I have one too many I just might not include her.
I think I will be short blocks so I'll have some more to do twice.
I hope to have the top finished this month,
But,
Izzy has a full sized bed
and I think that will mean sashing and then borders.
Which will take longer.
I have no idea how it should be quilted!

First harvest and the "I don't wanna" days

I picked my first tomatoes today!
This handful of yellow-orange cherry tomatoes.
I ate them all immediately after I took this photo!

I made three more Paper dolls after the ZOOM chat with the Chookshed stitchers,
I expect you're getting tired of seeing them.
I've also nearly finished the top for the Red Connect quilt
(that should happen after this.)
I've cut the lawn and trimmed the edges around the fence.
I have a bit of work in the yard tomorrow.

I spent all of Saturday and Sunday hiding out in the basement/studio
with Quinn.
We were hiding from the fireworks.
All those really loud bangs really upset her.
We came upstairs late and the fireworks didn't stop until well past midnight!
That made three nights in a row where sleep was hard to come by due to fireworks.
Just when I was drifting off to sleep---BOOM!
Big adrenaline rush!
I think I might hate them now.

Then, "I don't wanna's" showed up today.
I didn't even want to take a nap!
Probably due to not being caught up on sleep-
(I'm a sleep zealot!)
Hopefully, tonight's long nap will bring an end to them.
I'm not trying a Paper Doll while I'm tired-
that would probably be an exercise in frustration
which would likely mean I would have to do that one over.
