How did I do in February?

First up: to finish up making the blocks for Trail Mix.  DONe
Here they are!
I will admit they beat me up and took FOREVER.
There are one or two that may need remaking as I'm not sure of the fabric combinations.
I won't know until I lay out the top.

Next-  Finish Flipflop at the Farm Two-DONE
Quilted, bound and waiting to go to the Actual farm.

Next:  Make progress on the Little house cross-stitch.  DONE!
Wants framing still.

Next up-add blocks to the civil war quilt.
I only managed three but that still makes it DONE

For my One Christmas Item-this little Santa ornament is DONE!

Then I made a couple of hexie flowers, which weren't on the list.
The color is really off on these-they're BLUE!

In other areas:
Read 1 non-fiction book,  Well, hum.  I read three quarters of the book:
Pioneer letters:  the Letter as Literature.
I do not know how they defined Pioneer, but it was not in any way I could decipher.
I love reading diaries and letters of 19th century folks.
I've read MANY.
That's what I thought this would be BUT
only two were from the 1850's then they jumped to the 1960-70's.
I'd have to say that if someone wrote me a letter like these I would ask them to never write again!
I just couldn't finish it and it will go live elsewhere very soon!

I did work on the Family History a bit but can't say that I made any progress.

The only total failure was that I didn't order garden seeds.
I did look at and mark the catalogs so maybe soon.

I gave myself the whole month of February to recover from surgery.
The Doctor released me to real life about 10 days ago so I'm good to go.
I plan to get back into the routine of life beginning tomorrow.

Only 38 days until I can HUG my grands!

Excitement!

Last night I could barely go to sleep!  I was so excited!

Why?

Because today I had an appointment to receive the first dose of COVID 19 vaccine!

All the appointment does is reserve one's shot so even though I arrived at the time I was told to I had to wait in a very long line outside.  Thank goodness it was not freezing cold!  Once inside the building there was another long wait.  One does finally get to the girl with the shot though!  Then sit for 15 minutes to watch for a reaction.

The appointment is made for the second dose (March 23) so in about 6 weeks I'll be able to hug my children and grandchildren!

As far as reactions go-my arm is a bit stiff and sore.

I think a count down is in order!

Finished!

I was busy staying warm last week but I did manage to finish quilting and binding Flipflop at the Farm-Two!
Intended for Scott and Bri's Farm.
Belle the Bernina stitched beautifully-I am grateful!
For the first time I sewed the binding down on the machine.
It was pretty simple, so I'll be doing that again.

Then I finished the small stitchery.
(Sorry about the photo, I should have taken the camera down!)

I've also made good progress on both Trail Mix and the small Santa.
Considering the amount of time I spent on the couch in from of the fireplace I'm quite happy with that!

Progress report

First off, I retrieved Belle the Bernina from the repair shop this week!
Took Edna the Elna in. ( In the fond but probably unrealistic hope that it will work again!)
Belle is working a treat now!  He adjusted the hook and the tension.
So, Flipflop at the Farm 2 is 1/4 quilted-hopefully without big wrinkles!

I've worked on this little piece some each day.  All that remains is one small spot of stitches, some special stitches and the backstitching. Still have no idea what I will do with it!

The third set of blocks for Trail Mix is underway.  Should finish them tomorrow.
It's been an experience-complete with swearing!

Then I began this-which will end up being a Santa.
I need to acquire some threads.  I hope they have them at my local cross stitch shop!

In  other things,  I continue to recover.  I am not over doing it.
I feel like it will be half way through March before I can say I'm over surgery.
I sleep when I need to-including naps.
Rest and read often.

Lastly, attempting to stay warm with temperatures hovering near 0F (-17C) and high temperatures never rising above freezing and feels like temperature about 20 Degrees lower than zero.  Many layers being worn, even inside. Trips out very limited.
Add in a couple of inches of snow.  Miserable.
Dangerous.
I do have to say that like a really hot summer, once it gets to a certain level of cold it's just cold.

Quiet

I don't remember how I heard about this book but It was an enjoyable read.
I like books that explain people, how our brains work and how to adapt.
I'm an introvert so it was especially good to understand that my brain was wired for it before I was born!  The research that's covered is pretty amazing and quite interesting.
I think I may have to read it again in a few months.
Since people are divided between introvert and extrovert almost evenly everyone knows some.
I  recommend it highly!

For everyone who has been dropping by my last post--
It seems like you think I'm trying to do too much,
maybe I am but I live alone and between being the introvert in Quiet and THE VIRUS I stay home biggest part of the time.  It doesn't take much to keep my house clean so I have HOURS and HOURS each day to somehow fill.  Having a direction keeps me from boredom!  And the eating that comes with it!

Very cold here, we are told to expect two weeks of daytime single digits!  At least it will kill off some of the bugs next spring!

I'm back-sort of

Surgery on Monday went just fine and I was home before lunch!  Not much pain, really just one sore spot which was oddly enough very far away from where one's gallbladder is.  I had some staggering about with light headedness for a couple of days after but on Thursday I graduated from my nightie and robe to Pj bottoms and a shirt or sweater.  I tried Jeans yesterday but that was a NO go.  I get tired quite easily so  I do a little then take back to the couch or recliner.  I think my couch is really an instrument of torture!  I'd like to replace it but I need to sit on them until I find one that "hugs" me, same with side chairs.

Winter is to arrive today and remain for this week!  It is currently 23F (-5C) the feels like temperature is quite a bit lower.  There is snow in the forecast, they are saying "measurable" whatever that means.  The serious cold is to hang around at least thru next week, this is what January is supposed to be!  It seems to me that the seasons are shifting.  The past few years Spring and summer have been later and the trend stays all year, Climate change I guess.

I feel enough better today that I made a short TO DO list.  I am going down to the Studio after this to do some hand work.  The rest of the fabric for Trail Mix came and I've washed it but it needs to dry, then be starched and ironed before I cut anymore.  Perhaps tomorrow.

February's Want To Do list:

It's a short month and I've already lost a week so it's a short list

Trail Mix-finish cutting and making all the blocks

Finish Flipflop at the Farm 2-sandwiching and quilting or tying

Add blocks to the Civil War Sampler-I'd like to do another row but anything will be progress

1 Christmas Item

Make progress or finish the small Cross-stitch piece.  I think I can finish it but progress will be fine

Read one Non-fiction book

Work on my Family History

Order seeds and/or plants for the gardens
